Young Parents
Early Support
OneOneCoCo has experience of working with parents who are themselves looked
after children, and aims to respond to their individual needs as a young person as
well as a parent or parent-to-be. This experience includes undertaking an holistic
and therapeutic approach to the support and assessment of young parents who:

• Have little or no independent living skills
• Are unprepared – psychologically and practically for parenthood
• Have a history of substance misuse
• have experienced trauma or instability

antenatal period to assist in the management and reduction of risk, development of
skills, promotion of healthy and safe practices, and preparedness, by:
• Needs assessment and individual living skills development
• Appropriate therapeutic intervention
• Access to drugs/alcohol support
• Identifying and working with the young person to address the underlying
factors associated with risk behaviours (sexual exploitation, involvement in
groups and gangs, substance misuse)

• Pre-birth risk assessment
The service is delivered by an individualised team of key family support staff/social
worker, clinical or counselling psychologist, alcohol and drugs worker (as needed),
